Terms & Conditions

1. Booking & Scheduling

• Appointments must be booked a minimum of 12 hours in advance.

• Same-day bookings may be available depending on availability and are subject to an additional rush fee.

• Evening and weekend appointments are available upon request and may also incur a surcharge.

• Appointments are not confirmed until full payment has been received and confirmation is sent via email or text message.

 

2. Payment Policy

• Full payment is required at the time of booking.

• We accept major credit/debit cards through our secure payment system.

• Additional travel fees may apply for locations outside of our standard coverage area. These will be communicated before the appointment is confirmed.

• If you are booking on behalf of someone else (i.e., your client, spouse, parent, etc.), you are responsible for ensuring payment is made and that all policies are understood and accepted.

 

3. Rescheduling & Cancellations

• You may reschedule your appointment once with at least 24 hours’ notice at no additional cost.

• Cancellations made with at least 24 hours’ notice will be refunded in full minus any transaction fees.

• Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your appointment or no-shows are non-refundable.

 

4. Identification Requirements

• All signers must present a valid, original, unexpired government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, state ID, or passport).

• We cannot accept photocopies, scans, digital screenshots, or expired IDs.

• If a signer does not have an acceptable ID, two credible witnesses who personally know the signer and present valid ID may be used in accordance with California law. Witnesses must be physically present.

 

5. Document Readiness

• Please ensure your documents are complete and ready for notarization at the time of the appointment.

• Do not sign or date the documents in advance, unless specifically instructed to do so.

• The notary is not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice, interpret your documents, or complete them for you.

 

6. Witnesses

• Some notarizations (e.g., wills, deeds, healthcare directives) may require one or more witnesses.

• Clients are responsible for providing qualified witnesses unless previously arranged with Notarized by Mia.

• Witnesses must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Not be named in the document

  • Not be a relative

  • Have no financial interest in the document’s contents

 

7. Refusal of Service

Notarized by Mia reserves the right to refuse service if:

• The signer is not physically present at the time of notarization

• The signer does not have acceptable identification

• The signer appears to be under duress, intoxicated, confused, or otherwise incapable of understanding the transaction

• The notary has reasonable belief that the notarization would violate California notarial laws or best practices

 

8. Mobile Travel Policy

• Service areas include Riverside County, California and surrounding regions.

• A standard travel radius is included in your booking. If your appointment is outside of this radius, additional travel fees apply and will be discussed during scheduling.

• Travel fees are based on distance and time, and will be fully disclosed prior to confirming your appointment.

 

9. Privacy & Confidentiality

• Notarized by Mia treats all documents and information with strict confidentiality.

• Personal information is collected and used solely for the purpose of providing the requested notarial services.

• Your information will never be sold, rented, or shared with third parties without your consent.

 

10. Disclaimer

• Notarized by Mia provides notarial services only. We are not attorneys and do not provide legal representation or advice.

• It is the client’s responsibility to ensure the document is valid, complete, and appropriate for notarization.

 

11. Changes to Terms

• Notarized by Mia reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time.

• Updates will be posted on www.notarizedbymia.com and take effect immediately upon posting.
